Philippine Coffee Board Holds 5th Annual Coffee Break festival

The Philippine Coffee Board, in cooperation with Ayala Center and the Makati Business Club, will host the 5th Coffee Break Festival 2006 on October 2-15, 2006 at the ground floor of the Glorietta 4 in Ayala Center, Makati City. Entitled "Coffee & Conversation," this festival will showcase coffee merchants from all over the Philippines and highlight the best Philippine coffees.

Nicholas Matti, co-chair of the Philippine Coffee Board said, "The 5th Annual Coffee Break Festival presents a great opportunity to promote Philippine coffee and a good venue for coffee growers and millers to come together and interact with our consumers." He adds, "This year's Coffee Break Festival also aims to show that coffee is best over good conversation."

Visitors can taste free coffee samples from Batangas Harvest Coffee, Boyd's Coffee, Caf?Amadeo, Caf?Barako de Lipa, Coffee Dream, Cordillera Coffee , Dunkin Donut, Figaro Coffee, Gourmet's Coffee, Mocha Blends, Monk's Blend, Montanosa Coffee, and Siete Baracos Coffee.

Other highlights of this festival include live performances by Jacqui Magno, Julia Duncan, Dawn, and other famous jazz and bossa nova artists; the Sustainable Coffee Farming course, which will cover field preparation, planting, and coffee tree care in a sustainable, organic farming context; and the Coffee 101 course, which will show the basics of coffee, kinds of beans, roasting and grinding, coffee-making equipment, how to brew the perfect cup of coffee, and factors affecting coffee quality. For more information on the courses, please call the Philippine Coffee Board Secretariat at 751-1137.

This year's Coffee Break Festival sponsors are Coffee-Mate, Nescafe, Sony Ericsson Mobile Communications, Equal, Filtra Furniture, Y&R Philippines, Globequest, HSBC, and radio station Crossover 101.5.

The Coffee Break Festival is the biggest annual event organized by the Philippine Coffee Board (formerly the National Coffee Development Board), whose objective is to encourage coffee drinkers to drink Philippine coffee and show where coffee is grown.

HAPPY BIRTHDAY KAMBAL!

Dearest Ryan and Bryan,

I look forward to performing my responsibilities as your tita when you're both old enough. I'll read you Adarna books; bring you to Museong Pambata; buy you Jollibee's Chickenjoy (we'll bring Tito John with us for this one); have you ride horses in Tagaytay; bring you to the nicest kids' center i have yet to discover, so you'll know how exciting it is to play with mud, and sand, and clay, and paint; il bring you to a music workshop where you can learn how to play not just the guitar, or the drums, but also the kulintang and dabakan; and of course, il bring you to a zoo, because sadly enough, i haven't been to one...

For now, il give you hugs and kisses, and offer prayers to God for both your health.

Never will i forget the agony I felt when you, Bryan, were confined on that bed for months. I can never forget for you are God's answer when i asked for a miracle.

I love you both, dearly.

Tita Kaligay

unbelievable

just because what's truth for us is not truth for you
and things happened between us that we actually didn't like to happen
and word got around, incomprehensively
then we tried to settle everything
yet still people failed to understand
and refused to accept
but what i can't swallow is the fact that you turned your back at us
and not only that
you casted doubt on us
this doubt you did not contain within you
but you had to imply that those around us
are not standing up for what is true
because its not true to you
oo nga naman
and in effect, you implied that their authority is unreliable
whom you also recognized as your own, before all this
and not mere authority, but co-servants
and friends

its disappointing cause i expected more from you

i dont know whether you'll understand
but some truths are absolute

and if you read this and you feel that im talking about you
it wont matter
i wont be sorry if you feel that

My hands

are still stained with paint after painting the walls of sixninety this afternoon. I like the shade of green that we used - reminds me of pistachio ice cream, buko pandan, cotton candy and mint. Yum. I'm excited to set the place up. Kaya kahit na ako lang ang nagpintura sa mga ladies, okay lang. Our associate pastor tried to talk me out of it: "Kali, pahinga ka na lang. Di kami makapagtanggal ng shirt e." I said: "Okay lang po, pipikit na lang ako."

After the work, balik sa church building to chicka with the ladies. My kumare can't help but tease me about the weight that I've gained. I'll try my best to lessen the food, really, and be consistent with the crunches, then hopefully badminton. Di na nga ako nag-extra rice kaninang lunch e! A friend said they're already married. It happened this way: she asked how to have a civil wedding one Sunday, then the next day they got married. Galing no?

Then I sat down with the younger ladies. My age actually. I'm just used to hanging out with the older ones that's why they seem younger and I feel older. Hehe.

One of them said, "Tuloy na sila." Puzzled, I replied, "Ang alin? Aaaaahhhhh... okay."

Then it dawned on me... teka lang. Why such move? Again, apparently.

Right then and there I wanted to understand. Is this because of the vision (their vision is different from our vision), or the format (people would like to do something they think would be effective for their own)? Or is this of mere uncomfortability because we are taking a new, maybe even radical move, that they feel they don't want to involve themselves in this ministry anymore, for fear of whatever it might turn into in the future, because it somehow involves money? I don't even want to ask about unity, the "doing their part and our part" thing, termed as "tulungan." I guess it hasn't even been recognized, if not long gone.

But maybe that's where I'm coming from after all. What happened to that? What happened to recognizing the part that the ministry has played in helping the students know and experience worship? It seems suddenly it's gone. I remember we used to do it together - you bring them in, we help them. We never really did it alone anyway because all of us shared in the vision to see these students be passionate about the God that we know. But as it is defined now, we don't need to be in the same room or in the same place to share in this vision. Still, I long for you to be there. But I guess that won't be possible in the long run, because people might need to choose again, like what already happened.

And it will hurt. The same way it hurt the first time.

hmm, really now...

You Are a Retrospective Soul
The most misunderstood of all the soul signs. Sometimes you even have difficulty seeing yourself as who you are. You are intense and desire perfection in every facet of your life. You're best described as extremely idealistic, hardworking, and a survivor. Great moments of insight and sensitivity come to you easily. But if you aren't careful, you'll ignore these moments and repeat past mistakes. For you, it is difficult to seperate the past from the present. You will suceed once you overcome the disappoinments in life. Souls you are most compatible with: Traveler Soul and Prophet Soul
